This course is for beginners who are drawn to the study of traditional images of iconography. The model chosen is "The Virgin and Child" (Byzantine 13th century icon). The group will be shown step by step, ways of defining forms, application of egg tempera, glazing, bole-gilding and varnishing techniques. As an Icon Retreat, participants will be encouraged to "go slowly" and to enter the silence with open minds and hearts. All materials supplied.
This is a live-in retreat.
