This Sunday children from eight Otago schools will battle it out to find Otago’s Kids of Steel! In the inaugural Great Mindball® Challenge, the three members of each team will play ball with their brains using Discovery World’s hottest exhibit. The only one of its kind in New Zealand, the aim of Mindball® is to use your brain’s ability to motion the magnetic ball to the opposite end of the table – it’s just like brain-powered table soccer! Kids who can keep their minds relaxed and focused will ultimately win…

Sticky TV’s Kanoa Lloyd will be here to host the event. Audience members will have the chance to challenge her to a game from 3pm – can keep your cool against a celebrity? Originally from Dunedin, Kanoa is now one of three hosts of the highly popular children’s show broadcast every weekday afternoon on TV3.

“It’s exciting to be able to show this awesome piece of brain technology in action with The Great Mindball® Challenge” says Amos Mann, Science Communicator – Special Projects. “This is the only Mindball® in New Zealand, and I encourage everyone to try it out on their own brain in Discovery World!”

Will it be Queenstown Primary’s Remarkably Calm, Taieri College’s Mind Wizards, Poolburn School’s Expanding Horizons, Concord School’s Pengoos, John McGlashan College’s Psychic Thinkers, Balmacewan Intermediate’s Balmac Mind Bombers, St Hilda’s toughest team or perhaps Grants Brae School’s Focus Pocus? Be there to support your favourite team as they literally go ‘head-to-head’ to become Otago’s Kids of Steel!

Free with your Discovery World Tropical Forest admission.
