‘50s Up Brass Band’ and Dame Malvina Major perform together in September in a Spectacular Brass Variety Concert – Get your tickets today!

Don’t forget to get your tickets today for the 16th annual Christchurch 50s Up Brass Band variety concert being held on 29 September at the Christchurch Town Hall starting at 2pm.

The afternoon concert is a fundraiser for Arthritis New Zealand. Along with the band it will also feature New Zealand’s premier diva Dame Malvina Major, cornetist Fenall Hill, and Musical Director Les Franc LTCL.

Concert manager John Nimmo said it was is a very popular event for seniors and the music program is also designed to appeal to younger people as well.
“It’s traditionally been aimed at seniors and we have a very loyal audience. This year with Dame Malvina Major at the show we hope to attract a new opera loving audience who enjoy daytime entertainment. It is just amazing to be able to have an international star perform with us and help raise money for a great cause”.

The ‘50s Up Brass Band’ has been playing music for many years and enjoys providing entertainment for many retirement homes and senior citizens clubs, as well as staging their annual variety concert. Its talented musical director has arranged the song medleys and other special music arrangements for the show.
