A fun way to boost health! Laughter yoga is a low impact, fun exercise system based around laughing. The 45 minute classes involve a combination of laughter exercises, gentle stretching, deep breathing and relaxation. Laughter is initiated as a playful exercise and the giggles are quickly infectious. You don’t need a sense of humour to join in, just a willingness to laugh, or as we say ‘fake it till you make it’ because the brain doesn’t know the difference, so whether its a fake chuckle or a genuine deep belly laugh participants are sure to get all the health and well-being benefits of laughter.
This fun exercise phenomenon has spread to all continents across the globe and has attracted the attention of many well known people including Oprah and John Cleese.
Laughter yoga has considerable physiological and psychological benefits – it's good for your body and mind. Laughter yoga is a great antidote to stress, reducing cortisol and adrenaline, lowering blood pressure and boosting feel-good chemicals like serotonin. Laughter boosts the immune system, improves circulation, strengthens cardiovascular, oxygenates the body, helps reduce snoring... To name a few benefits of laughter yoga – laughter really is the best medicine, in fact research studies found that 1 minute of deep belly laughter is the equivalent to 10 minutes on the rowing machine.
