Ireland’s most popular ‘easy listening’ singer, Daniel O’Donnell returns to New Zealand in September, with special guest Mary Duff.
Daniel has enjoyed tour and chart success in New Zealand for over two decades which has earned him a loyal following all around the country. His concert appearances have taken him from London’s Royal Albert Hall and Dublin’s Point Depot to New York’s Carnegie Hall and the Sydney Opera House, but he still continues to set himself fresh ambitions and new worlds to conquer.
A native of Kinscasslagh, Co. Donegal in Ireland, Daniel took his first steps into the musical spotlight as a member of the local church choir in 1985. His incredible rise to the top began in 1986 and his debut in 1988 From The Heart won the Country Album of The year at the Music Week Awards. Major success came in 1987 when his second album I Need You entered the UK country Album charts.
To date Daniel O’Donnell has had 20 UK chart albums - including Welcome To My World and The Jukebox Years - and 14 UK Top 10 music videos. His most current video release Songs Of Faith topped the UK music charts. He is the only artist to feature in the UK album charts each of the last 18 years!
Even more impressive has been Daniel’s performances in the national pop charts. His greatest chart success was in 2003 when Daniel In Blue Jeans reached No.3. To date he has sold over 5 million albums and 2 million DVDs.
He may be an Irish superstar, but Daniel remains excited and enthusiastic about his work and his fans. Daniel has never forgotten that it was the public who gave him his success, especially as he struggled long and hard to achieve his ambitions. Daniel not only gives three hours of stage time at every concert – but also the chance to meet and greet their hero when the show is over.
