Master of Fine Arts students Nicola Holden and Yona Lee look at conjunction and conglomeration, construction and building: additive acts of layering, mark-making and assemblage. Yona Lee uses addition and play that result in paintings that protrude into space, evade their very frames, slide down the wall and occupy territory. Nicola Holden employs meditative, accumulative gestures and placings to introduce subtle variation and slippages; drawings and objects are constructed that draw out space.
and and and… is a precarious event where gaps are celebrated, paintings stand and drawings are built. It is curated by Art History student Victoria Wynne-Jones.
