From France via Auckland come the haunting melodies of the late, great Michel Petrucciani. The Phil Broadhurst group will play his new arrangements of the songs of one of the all-time French jazz greats, whose life spanned a mere 36 years but left a lasting impression on the jazz world.
Special guest: Michel Benebig. From New Caledonia comes the vibrant ‘groove-jazz’ hard-bop and blues organ of Michel Benebig. A Hammond organist, whose reputation extends way beyond his native New Caledonia, with performances in France and the U.S., will perform with a sextet featuring the stirring front line of trumpet, tenor sax and trombone.
Special announcement: The concert will open with a performance of recent outstanding compositions from students of the New Zealand School of Music, Albany Campus.
This event will be held in the Round Room in the Atrium Building.
