BATS Theatre presents Gene Pool as part of its 2010 Stab Theatre Season, a production that explores life in a post-apocalyptic world, where the only survivor is, as yet, unborn and still to discover who they are. And if indeed they are alone.
Now in its fifteenth year, the Stab Season aims to challenge and entertain audiences with thought-provoking, innovative and ground-breaking theatre. Gene Pool will do just that.
At the heart of the production is a giant life-like incubator machine, encasing a human being: the only sentient being to survive the pandemic that swept the globe.
Shaped only by the observation of the remnants of civilisation, this being embarks on the journey of self-discovery.
It is a premise that reaches deep into our notions of evolution, civilisation and technology. All of which can save as much as they can destroy life itself.
