The Footnote Forte Series shows contemporary dance in different spaces. Audiences experience a night out on the waterfront, and will be guided from Museum of Wellington City & Sea to The Boatshed and finish at Museum Hotel.*
Responding to the environment in which we find ourselves, be it social, natural, political or the wonder of people and their relationships, new choreographies have been made by the most up-to-date talent in Aotearoa; Malia Johnston, Maria Dabrowska, Kristian Larsen, Sarah Foster, Sarah Knox and Lyne Pringle.
In Standing Birds, Maria Dabrowska reflects upon the personal relationship of two people, their memories, their sorrows and joys. Whether I Wear You, choreographed by Malia Johnston, plays with the ideas of weathering and wearing, memories and habits.
With Apolymuse Sarah Knox delves into the many muses: Amuse, amusement, amuse bouche, a muse, music. And in Buoy Racer Kristian Larsen presents a series of ‘movement portraits’ of Kiwi colloquialisms such as ‘rattle your dags’ and ‘tiki tour’.
New Zealand music is always a strong part of the dance works, and the Footnote Forte Series features music from Chris Knox, Boh Runga, Sean Donnelly, Eden Mulholland, Rhian Sheehan, Sam Hamilton, Gene Alexander and Niko Ne Zna.
Footnote Dance is a national contemporary dance company directed by Deirdre Tarrant with dancers Sarah Knox, Lucy Marinkovich, Robbie Curtis, Jeremy Poi & Anita Hunziker.
