In association with New Zealand Red Cross, we are proud to present One Africa in their first show here in Aotearoa!
Fusing traditional West African culture with contemporary influences, One Africa creates a hypnotically soulful repertoire of original songs. Providing the rhythm and groove, King Marong (Gambia) has been performing professionally since the age of 12 and has built a reputation as a master of many African drumming styles and instruments. On vocals guitar and dance, Lamine Sonko hails from a famous Senegalese griot musical family and has performed internationally alongside such greats as Youssou Ndour. Let yourself be captivated by the music, stories and dance of One Africa.
At this event, we once again bring a slice of the motherland to Aotearoa with delicious African food to sample, including our legendary pepper soup and injera (Ethiopian flatbread). Food will be served at about 9.30. We'll make sure that we've got enough for everyone this time!
The evening will include an impressive line up of African music and DJs. One Africa and local African drumming legends will be performing throughout the evening.
