V8 on Tour

Auckland’s premier a cappella vocal octet - V8 Vocal Ensemble - returns to Wellington to present ‘V8 on Tour’... A 3-concert tour of Wellington, Wairarapa and Waikanae.

The ensemble was formed by keen Auckland Voices New Zealand members after the 1998 tour to Spain. The singers are all past members of the NZ National Youth Choir and Voices NZ. The group mostly sings a cappella eight part harmony, although V8 has performed with jazz trios, a brass quintet and a saxophone ensemble, and was the opera chorus (albeit a small one) for ‘Opera in the Pa’ in Rotorua in 2007.

They started by hosting their own ‘themed’ concerts such as ‘A Cappella In Takapuna’, ‘But Wait –There’s More!’, ‘Afternoon Delight’, ‘Spring Into Summer’, ‘Sunday Drive With V8’, ‘A Lot of Hot Air’, ‘Christmas with V8’, and most recently ‘A Cappella Xtreme’ with the delightful boys of the Pride of Auckland Chorus. V8 hosted ‘A Choral Cabaret – V8 Vocal Ensemble & Guests’ at Sing Aotearoa in Rotorua last year.

The group has performed around the North Island in Hamilton, Taupo, New Plymouth, Wellington in 2005, Orewa and Matakana and regularly performs in Tauranga.

V8 celebrated its 10th anniversary with a special anniversary concert in the Auckland Town Hall Concert Chamber in 2008 and has released two CDs: ‘Gallery’ in 2007 and ‘Christmas’ in 2009.
