The Auckland Jazz Orchestra is a big band with a focus on playing music created locally.

This band is made up of many of Auckland’s finest musicians and is fuelled by a collective passion for the music of the big band. The ‘book’ contains interesting and exciting new compositions and arrangements from the pens and pencils of Mike Booth, Andrew Hall and Tim Atkinson. As a tip of the hat to tradition, classics from the likes of Sammy Nestico, Bob Mintzer and Thad Jones are also featured.
