Surf Friends is a unique two piece band with a massive sound from their drum machine beats, sampler loops, indie styled guitar, bass and keyboards.

Surf Friends pack their shows with energy with an emphasis on movement with responding crowds. This is a band to see live!

From Surf Friends formation in early 2009, songs have flowed blending the early indie sounds of Flying Nun bands such as The Clean with new experimental waves of No Age and Deerhunter. Surf Friends are driving a new alternative sound.

Surf Friends are Brad Coley (guitar, vocals, keys, harmonica, drum machine), Pete Westmoreland (bass, keys, vocals).

A band with a massive sound and drum machine tracks, Surf Friends has often been compared to Joy Division and New Order. No show is the same as the band embraces the feel of the live experience through their reverberating guitars and bass, synth keyboard tracks and looped samples, all with an immense energy!

After releasing their self-titled EP that took the lads to Wellington, Surf Friends followed it up with a full New Zealand tour in December 2009 with American band The Black Watch. The band has since been recording their debut album while playing many shows around New Zealand and attending radio interviews. In anticipation of their debut album, the band has released three singles that have enjoyed radio air play and of which two have featured in Kiwi Fm’s top ten. Single “You’re On My Mind” is currently number three, the singles fourth consecutive week in the top ten.

September will see the release of the bands fourth single. Surf Friends Debut album will be released in October 2010 and will be taken on a full New Zealand tour during this month.
