The Hastings Citizens’ Band is proud to showcase over 300 musicians from some of New Zealand's top brass bands in a weekend of competition and entertainment to celebrate its 125th anniversary.
Under strict contest regulations (which include ‘blind’ judges) each band first competes in the formal contest with a sacred item and major work on Saturday 3rd from 1pm.
From 9am on Sunday 4th featuring popular TV, movie, jazz, & contemporary tunes each band is judged on its ability to deliver a slick 30 minute set!
A Sunday highlight is the traditional street march, this year on Lyndon Road from 12pm followed by some of the top brass bands in NZ at 1pm.
Contest Chairperson Tane McLeay says that he is “Looking forward to the challenges of organising such a large event and the excitement announcing the winners on Sunday”
Entry to Opera House performances is by gold coin.
