The one-week introductory digital photography course is designed to introduce students to:
(a) The working practices of the editorial, advertising and graphic arts industries.
(b) The scope, content and training practices of the one-year full time Digital Photography course.
(c) The practical use of the school's digital cameras, studio flash equipment and image processing computer facilities.

The short course has been designed to be held in five days of practical exercises. During the course students receive intensive hands-on experience in using professional digital photographic cameras and lenses, along with professional studio flash equipment. There will be exercises on lighting and exposure; whereas the practical aspect of the course ensures that every participant interacts with the studio equipment to produce their own photographs.

The computer lab is equipped with the latest image processing software and teaching facilities. Participants of the course will find in it a favourable environment in which to express their creativity and challenge themselves by sharing their ideas and photographs with the rest of the group. The same image processing and image evaluation training practices from the one year full time diploma will be used during the short course.

Upon completion of the course, students will receive a certificate confirming their course participation and the production skills covered. Students will also receive a CD with all work completed over the week.

During the course all students are carefully assessed in order to evaluate their potential for further study and work in the editorial, graphic arts and advertising industries. Students who successfully complete the introductory course will be given favourable consideration for the one-year full time Diploma in Digital Photography. However, this consideration does not in any way automatically guarantee a position on the diploma course.
