After sell-out seasons in the UK, Europe, New Zealand and Australia, the Kransky Sisters will unload their baggage and make their Otago Festival debut with their unique and quirky show “Heard it on the Wireless”.

Venturing far from the dusty, curtained, private world of their family home in Esk, rural Queensland, the Kransky Sisters bring their darkly funny stories from across the countryside and their uniquely homespun versions of popular tunes.

On an old sixties reed keyboard, guitar, musical-saw, tuba and cooking pots, these unworldly sisters offer their offbeat illuminations on what they hear on their wireless and see in magazines. Their unusual musical act draws on naiveté, spinsterhood and the somewhat gothic existence that forms the world of these three eccentric sisters.

The combination of their strange behaviour, blinkered outlook, superbly droll comic dialogue, and alluring, downright hilarious brand of music, make the Kransky Sisters a night of sheer delight.
The Kransky Sisters cover songs from Nana Mouskouri, The Carpenters, SugaBabes and Pink, to Skyhooks, Steppenwolf, ACDC, Eurhythmics and Talking Heads.

“A musical act like no other. If Dame Edna ever retired to the Outback and procreated, the result might be something like the Kranskys. ”
The Scotsman, Edinburgh
