The Butler - Otago Festival of the Arts

The Butler is a tour de force from the pen of Joe Bennett and the dazzling creativity of the Looms Circus Company. It’s funny, sexy, visually stunning and it’s a bitter satire. The butler presides over a dinner party where he stands apart from the action - having seen and heard it all before. The conventions of etiquette and civility are played out in a formal charade initially, but very quickly degenerate into grotesque and outrageous circus antics.

As a piece of theatre The Butler is like nothing seen before but the behaviour is instantly recognisable.

The Butler has played to riotous and enthusiastic sell out audiences at many NZ festivals as well as touring to London and Edinburgh. They will play the Regent Theatre for two nights only, direct from their second London season.
