Diwali is an ancient Hindu festival that marks the beginning of the new year. Often referred to as the festival of lights it’s a time of great celebration by Indians all over the world – light symbolising the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.

Vibrant and energetic the 2010 Christchurch Diwali Festival will feature international and local stage performers, authentic food, art and craft stalls, demonstrations of traditional Indian arts and medicine and a photographic exhibition.
