James Ehnes, Grammy award-winning violinist, returns to Auckland with one of the works that made him famous worldwide - the Walton Violin Concerto. Walton, who wrote (among other things) the coronation music for Queen Elizabeth II, created one of his most lyrical and evocative pieces in this concerto. The concert also features Prokofiev’s mercurial and powerful fifth symphony, one of his most striking and magnetic works.
$30 for 30s: For our 30th anniversary year, the APO is offering $30 rush tickets to anyone in their 30s. Tickets can be booked the week of a concert from THE EDGE box office, online at www.the-edge.co.nz or by phoning 0800 buy tickets (subject to availability and booking fee, proof of age will be required).
