Zumbathon

Zumba Northland and Prestige Entertainment Ltd are organising a Zumba charity event to raise money for Project Promise, 3 Million, 3 Years. Our nominated charity is raising money to open a new Oncology Unit at Whangarei Hospital which will benefit the local community and people Northland-wide who may be affected by or have family members, friends or work colleagues affected by some form of cancer.

It is the intention of both Zumba Northland and Prestige Entertainment to provide a fun, entertaining event all while exercising to great Latin rhythms and live performances.

Our aim is to raise around $25,000.00 at this event but need the support and help of the Northland community and businesses to make this event a success. If you would like to make a donation, or become a Zumba sponsored attendee please fill out the appropriate form and return by email or post.

Zumbatomic for kids 5 years to 12 years of age 9.15am to 10.15am and
Zumba-thon for adults 13 years upwards from 10:30am.

We would like to get as many people involved in this great event to share our passion for Zumba Fitness. Many people have expressed interest in supporting this fantastic charity but we need your support to help make it a success.

To get involved you can either register to Zumba as an individual, a sports team or a business group and join us for a fun time of exercise. If you would like to enter as a business you are more than welcome to wear your own company apparel to advertise at the event. There will be prize giveaways and guest appearances on stage plus live singers and DJ to keep the dance tracks pumping.

Leona Burrell is a qualified Zumba Instructor in B1, B2, Gold, Zumbatomic and toning.

Leona has 22 years experience as a dance / cheerleading instructor of children & young adults. She is continually inspired by her students when she sees their progress and hard work lead to success whether it is in their dance group or in their own personal lives.

Leona heard about Zumba over a year ago and decided to buy the DVDs to see what the buzz was about. As soon as she watched it she was hooked, so much so that she booked her first instructors course.

After completing the 1st course she started classes in her hometown of Kerikeri. She was then asked by a family member to start classes in Whangarei to which she did. She has witnessed many women gain physical fitness, flexibility, and of course become dancers with all the fantastic Latin rhythms.

Zumba has taken the world by storm. Since its NZ release in 2008, Zumba Fitness has grown faster than any other fitness programme with people raving about their local Zumba classes.

Her vision and goal for the Zumba-thon is to promote healthier choices as we embark on our journey of life, through mind, body and soul. She wishes to encourage you to transform your life through Zumba Fitness and be able to say “This is a Zumba Body”.
