A group of all-singing, all-strumming ukulele players (there's a clue in the name!). Fans mob them in Japan; they’ve played at Ronnie Scott’s and Glastonbury, and scored one of the fastest sell-outs in BBC Proms history filling all 7000 seats of London’s Royal Albert Hall.
Wherever this twanging, singing, awesome, foot-stomping band of ukulele players turns up, they fill theatres and sing, strum and pluck their way into the cockles of your heart.
Selling out seven shows at their first New Zealand appearance at the 2008 NZ International Arts Festival in Wellington, the Ukes are back for a full national tour.
From Nirvana to Tchaikovsky via Kate Bush and Spaghetti Western soundtracks, the Ukes take us on “a world tour with only hand luggage” with “One Plucking Thing After Another”.
Their humorous stage presentation makes for an informal evening packed with laughter and audiences having a terrific time.
“Plucking brilliant!” – Sunday Times
“Wonderfully clever” – David Bowie
“Absolutely the Best of British” – Michael Palin
