An elder's vision for our sustainable future. 'What are you doing today to leave behind what you want to be remembered for tomorrow?' The Auckland Writers & Readers Festival in association with the Allan Wilson Centre, The Royal Society of New Zealand and Allen and Unwin are delighted to present David Suzuki in Wellington.
This is a rare opportunity to hear David Suzuki, the iconic, influential and hugely popular Canadian scientist, educator, broadcaster and activist deliver a 'last lecture' - what he describes as a 'distillation of my life and thoughts, my legacy, what I want to say before I die'. This is the question he addresses in his latest book The Legacy.
Suzuki is one of the world's leading authorities on climate change and sustainability. He co-founded the David Suzuki Foundation in 1990 to work 'to find ways for society to live in balance with the natural world that sustains us' and is known as the host of the popular TV show 'The Nature of Things'.
This is David's last tour to Australasia and in this lecture he reflects on the massive changes in the world within his living memory - from explosive population growth, to massive technological developments, to the establishment of a global economy. Ultimately, he expresses his faith in human beings' capacity for innovation and he urges us all to dream of a better world and then to make it happen.
Be inspired to seek out ideas on how to start to live your legacy.
