An exhibition that focuses attention on Anne Noble’s articulation of light and whiteness in image making, and draws photographs from several suites of work. Available light - light playing against darkness and even against itself; pure light on light, calling into question the notion of perception itself.
Her approach demonstrates particular humanist concerns, the relationship between people and place and what it means to belong. Noble is exploring the cultural construction of place through imagination and depiction and is searching for appropriate forms of representation, in light of our current rather than historical, relationship to place. Her work is ‘accumulative’ and we are provided us with an evocative visual narrative. There is a delicacy of approach and attention to detail.
