Come down to Takapuna beach and check out the Thundercat racing this weekend!

Thundercat racing is a high adrenalin, high action sport with explosive wave jumping and tight competitive surf racing in a tunnel hulled inflatable boat. The crew consists of a driver steering the boat and a co-pilot who uses their weight to stabilise the craft and obtain optimum speed. Racing is run traditionally at surf beaches which provide spectacular jumps, thrills and spills with boats reaching 80kph in the surf.

This race day on Sunday is a preliminary Club surfcross day to the upcoming national series in early January 2011. The race begins at 11am and runs throughout the day. A great outdoor activity to come check out in the weekend and you may be lucky to get a ride or two on one of the boats!
