"If Evanescence, Lacuna Coil, Pink and Alanis Morrissette had an orgy, Emma G's music would be the lovechild - with Tracy Chapman and Bic Runga as godparents."
I'm very excited to announce that I'll be playing in Raglan! I lived in Raglan until I was 9 years old - and honestly, there is no place quite like it! Its tranquillity, sunshine and laid back lifestyle make Raglan the perfect weekend getaway, and the best creative spot to play music!
I'll also be joined by two very special musicians: Jesse O'Brien and Paul Smith of Grace Falls, who will be playing on the night also.
I would love to see you there to join us for a beer or two and some great music!
Gig kicks off at 10pm and will be going until 1am - or until we get tired!
Entry is koha only - pay what you think - be it $5 or $100!
I look forward to seeing you all there.
About Emma G:
Emma G is a rock singer / songwriter / musician originally from the Waikato, New Zealand.
Emma G wrote her first successful song, "Look Around", at the tender age of ten which was then recorded and released on Waikato-and-Bay-of-Plenty-based album "The Present". With strong R'n'B influences, local hip hop group "The Native Sons" heard the song and debuted on the track also, bringing a few rhymes to the mix.
Emma G's determination and success at such a young age, won her the opportunity to travel to a world symposium the following year as an ambassador for New Zealand youth in Florida, USA. Returning back to New Zealand, Emma G was filled with a new sense of purpose: to inspire and encourage others to be the best they can be, to stay true to themselves, and to express themselves through her music.
Since then, she has been writing music and performing non-stop. From gigs at various bars in the Waikato and Auckland, to local events such as 2009's Waitangi Day commemorations to busking on the streets of Hamilton and singing on Maori television's Homai te Paki Paki and TV2's The Singing Bee!
Her perseverance in the music industry got her ninth placing in the 2004 inaugural Play It Strange Secondary Schools Songwriting competition with her song "Soon". She also appeared singing and talking about this song on the 2004 Play it Strange documentary which was aired on TV2 twice. Stunning award winning Russian-born classical-cross-over singer, Yulia, heard "Soon", and looked into covering it, however, upon meeting with Emma G and hearing her other material and voice decided to encourage Emma G to follow her dreams and get involved in the musical industry instead.
Emma G has now moved to Auckland and has been doing many solo performances around the city at Juice Bar, Windsor Castle, Deschlers, Grand Central and Crib Bar. She has also joined forces with some top musicians for her all-new soul / hard-rock and band, also called "Emma G" with a debut album in the pipelines with help of producer Dave Edtmeier of Miscreant Recordings.
Emma G is a unique combination of determination, rock, pop, soul, sex and attitude!
