Jamie Catto (Faithless) Duncan Bridgeman (Musician) travelled the world collecting music, images and words of wisdom from an incredible mixture of people. Armed with cameras and laptops with some pre-recorded backing drum tracks, they visited over 50 countries getting musicians to add to the original recordings, building their music tracks from country to country, the end result is a global mix of music where none of the musicians ever met face to face but just worked off the previous recordings.

Music is the foundation for the film, interspersed with words of wisdom from the famous and wise who punctuate and personalise the film. Out of my top ten films this is in my top five… This is a Desert Island film… A real heart lifting experience… That you will want to watch over and over again.

Last season we showed “1 Giant Leap” (130 mins) some thought it was a bit long… This 2nd film from Jamie and Duncan runs for just 85 mins… It includes Noam Chomsky, Will Young, Maxi Jazz, Tim Robbins, Billy Connolly, Michael Stipe, K D Laing, Ram Das. What About Me? is the culmination of 4 years' work by Duncan Bridgeman and Jamie Catto.

It's an inspiring and alarming look at our collective insanity: how we are ego-driven, needy in relationships, insatiable in desire, addicted to status, wounded by childhood and unable to stop thinking, but how we still manage to be inspired and creative... While Duncan and Jamie sought out wisdom from the likes of Noam Chomsky, Eckhart Tolle and Stephen Fry and the cream of the world's thinkers, writers, and entertainers they also met many people just getting on with their lives - gravediggers, taxi drivers, brain surgeons, street kids... Unscripted, with no storyboard, these conversations all reveal how we are connected not only through our creativity and our beliefs but most of all through our madness!

Plus short film "Rapt in Stone" 4 mins.

Licensed bar. Refreshments. Doors open 7pm, films start at 8pm. Free membership. Tel: 09 818 2489 or E-mail: settlersfilmclub@xtra.co.nz.
