Nick Bevin FNZIA, Architect and Chair of the Friends of Futuna Charitable Trust, will present an illustrated talk on one of New Zealand's architectural crown jewels: the Futuna Chapel in Karori Wellington, designed by John Scott of Haumoana, Hawke's Bay.
Nationally renowned, this remarkable, hand-crafted building is now protected and secure. But it needs supporters to help give it a purposeful future. Hear about the history of the Chapel: the extraordinary man who designed it, the selfless builders that brought his vision to life, and its integration of the art of Jim Allen with the architecture of John Scott.
Since its formation in 2003 the Futuna Charitable Trust has led the mission to restore and resurrect the Chapel. On the 19 March 2011 the Chapel will reach its 50th anniversary and its return to life, and its future, will be celebrated.
Hosted by Hawke's Bay/Gisborne Branch New Zealand Institute of Architects
