Huntington’s Disease (HD) is a progressive neurodegenerative genetic disorder, which affects muscle coordination and leads to cognitive decline and dementia. Patients lose control of their limbs and are eventually confined to a wheelchair or bed. There is a 50/50 chance of inheriting the gene. If you do not have the gene you cannot pass it on. Currently there is no cure for HD but physicians can prescribe medications to help control emotional and movement problems associated with HD.
Tickets will be $75 each and include dinner, dessert, tea and coffee and a free glass of wine on entry plus spot prizes. Tickets will be sold through Trade me; search HD Charity Dinner.
If anyone is able to donate any items for the auction please email Leanne. Funds will be split between Huntington’s Disease Association Auckland and Northland Inc and MS Waikato Inc, who look after people living with Huntington’s disease.
