The Nukes' performances are fun and engaging with a line-up that includes: Laingholm resident David Thiele, affectionately referred to as ‘Snapper’, together with Ben ‘Country Boy’ Collier from the wild west of Woodhill, and ‘Fingers of Fire’ himself Dave Parker, founder of the Titirangi Festival of Music.
Formed in 2008 to play a short set at the Titirangi Festival of Music, The Nukes have been working hard to create a set of original songs for their unique trio of ukulele and voice.
2008 was a busy year with The Nukes presenting a series of concerts which included a thrilling appearance at the NZ Ukulele Festival, where Ben was awarded APRA top Uke Song of the Year for ‘Peas and Carrots’. Audiences never fail to be entertained by this group of ukulele enthusiasts.
"The most entertaining live uke band currently playing the Auckland scene, comedy, devastating harmony and exceptional original tunes , I'm still hoping they'll ask me to join....." - Kevin Fogarty (Founder of the New Zealand Ukulele Festival)
Californian legend Ukulele Bartt is confirmed for the Hawke's Bay Uke-Fest 2010!
Dubbed by the Los Angeles Times as a “modern day master” Ukulele Bartt is a flamenco-boggie-classical ukulele player and an award winning teacher. In addition to his playing prowess, he is equally acclaimed for being "as much fun as you can have with four strings." Jim Beloff calls Bartt "a fearless uke player who combines his significant chops and wacky sense of humor to teach uke basics, as well as much more advanced techniques." Find out more about him at bartt.net.
