Haumoana Market Day 2010

Haumoana Market Day attracts over 15,000 visitors each year and is considered a Red Letter Day on the Hawke’s Bay events calendar.

Approximately 240 staffholders from throughout NZ attend each year with a wide range of products and as you'd expect in Hawke's Bay, an adundance of food!

The annual art and wine auction is a key feature of Market Day along with the art exhibition tent where you'll find works by many of our local artists. It's a fantastic opportunity to meet many of the artists themselves.

This highly profressional event is run by the Haumoana Home and School Comittee with the assistance of hundreds of volunteers from the local community. With 13 events under their belt and a two Chamber of Commerce Awards recognising professionalism, the event organisation is slick to say the least!

There is a great atmosphere of bonhomie created on the day. Napier Boys’ High School’s pipe band heralds the opening and local musicians and the school’s own kapa haka group, Jump Jam team and choir perform throughout the day. Naturally the school’s community is out in force to take advantage of this fundraising opportunity with lucky wheel, rat races, art auction, sausage and steak sandwich stalls and much more. There’s plenty of family entertainment and activities including pony rides, face-painting, spin-art and a host of children’s rides.

All money raised from the Haumoana Market Day goes directly to Haumoana School to enhance the learning environment of its 160ish pupils. The big project for 2010 is to assist the school's building programme by providing funds for equipment to enhance the learning environment and e-learning capabilities.

Haumoana Market Day is truely a day not to be missed and there's plenty to offer everyone. It's also a fantastic early Christmas shopping opportunity! We do hope you can join us.
