Our Oceans Lecture Series - Alex Fergus.
New Zealand's Southern-most landmass sits stoically in the Furious Fifties, 700 kilometres below Bluff. On this subantarctic refuge royal albatross jostle with elephant seals for a place amidst oversized, neon-flowered megaherbs. Such biotic bustle disguises the few remaining relics of 200 years of sealing, farming and meterological observation. Alex Fergus, a postdoctoral researcher on the upcoming Campbell Island Bicentennial Expedition, will describe the island's natural and human history, and outline the projects of the upcoming expedition.
Held in the Barclay Theatre, Otago Museum.
