David Helfgott, one of the world’s best-loved pianists, comes to New Zealand this November to dazzle audiences with an extraordinary showcase of popular classical music.
David's remarkable life story was the subject of the Oscar-winning film Shine, which won a Best Actor Award for Geoffrey Rush for his astonishingly accurate portrayal of David.
This concert will showcase David’s mesmerising brilliance for classical enthusiasts and general music fans alike with a programme of popular works by the great romantic composers including Chopin, Liszt, Mendelssohn, Rachmaninov and, of course, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumblebee, with which he dazzled a worldwide audience at the 1997 Oscars.
