About Melody:
Melody Lin is currently completing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at The University of Auckland’s School of Music, where she is also an artist-teacher in flute. After graduating from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music (Performance), Melody furthered her studies at The University of Auckland with Associate-Professor Uwe Grodd, gaining a Master of Music with First Class Honours in 2007. Winning awards in numerous competitions, Melody also gained third place in the Live Performance category of the Postgraduate Research Exposition (Exposure 2010).

In both 2005 and 2006 Melody was awarded the Les and Sonia Andrews Woodwind Scholarship through The University of Auckland for the most deserving woodwind student. Currently, she is recipient of The University of Auckland Doctoral Scholarship, allowing her to further her personal interest in traditional Asian music and contemporary flute music. Her doctoral research explores the Chinese and Japanese musical elements in New Zealand flute music. Melody performs regularly with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Auckland Choral Society and is the co-principal flute of the Manukau Symphony Orchestra. She has also appeared as a concerto soloist with the East-West Philharmonic Orchestra (Sydney) and both The University of Auckland Chamber and Symphony Orchestra’s. A selection of her live performances was broadcast on Radio New Zealand Concert in 2009.
