Since opening its doors in 1989 as the Performing Arts School in Auckland, the Unitec dance programme has relocated several times. In 1994 it came under the umbrella of Unitec's Performing and Screen Arts department in Mt Albert.
For the past 21 years, some of New Zealand's top dancers and choreographers have either studied or taught there - high profile names such as Michael Parmenter, Neil Ieremia, Malia Johnston, Shona McCullagh and Chris Jannides. These five world renowned choreographers have returned to choreograph new and devised works for Unitec's first, second and third year dance students in 'A Life Between Us'.
The showcase celebrates the lifelong connections past students and teachers have made with Unitec, which continue today and inspire a new generation of dancers.
