Wellington Youth Orchestra celebrates its 50th birthday with a special concert featuring the 2010 Youth Orchestra alongside the two other members of our Youth Orchestra family, Wellington Youth Sinfonietta and Schola Sinfonica.
The three WYO orchestras combined will perform Handel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks, followed by a Wellington Youth Orchestra and Youth Sinfonietta rendition of Copland’s lively Four Dances from Rodeo. The WYO will conclude the first half alone with a New Zealand classic; Lilburn’s Aotearoa Overture.
In the second half the 2010 Wellington Youth Orchestra will revel in the challenges of Rimsky-Korsakov’s virtuosic orchestral showpiece, Scheherazade.
