Three Chords and the Truth
[NZ documentary]
NZ, 2004, Exempt, 60 mins.
Filmed in New Zealand, London and New York, Three Chords and the Truth: The Anika Moa Story is a documentary tracking the path of singer/songwriter Anika Moa and the release of her first album Thinking Room in the United States after her initial ‘discovery’ by the Managing Director of Warner Music NZ.

The fascinating documentary records her subsequent attempts to reconcile her values and life in Aotearoa/NZ with the implications of signing to a major global record label. Anika talks openly about her roller coaster ride and her belief in ‘keeping it real’.
