The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra (NZSO) and special guest Dame Malvina Major, will perform live at the Michael Fowler Centre in Wellington as a part of The Guinness Peat Group Tour.
Tecwyn Evans - conductor
Dame Malvina Major - soprano
The programme will include:
• Mozart - Symphony No.41 Jupiter
• Strauss - Die Fledermaus Overture
• Lehar - Guiditta Meine Lippen, sie küssen soheiss, Paganini Liebe, du Himmel auf Erden, The Merry Widow Vilja
• Dvorak - Czech Suite Finale, Rusalka Song to the Moon
• Strauss - Thunder and Lightening Polka
In the high-spirited world of operetta, the champagne flows freely and everything ends happily.
Dame Malvina Major and the NZSO take you to this romantic place with the music of the masters, Johann Strauss and Franz Lehar, and delightful arias and waltzes celebrating the good life on the banks of the blue Danube.
In a side trip to Bohemia we’ll hear Rusalka’s exquisite Song to the Moon, a water-sprite’s yearning declaration of love. The greatest symphony by that Viennese prodigy, Mozart, makes a fitting prelude to this evening of effervescent music.
Tickets will be available from Ticketek.
