With two countries so close, it was only a matter of time before Oz and NZ developed a cross-Tasman sound
Melbourne-based Reggae/Hip Hop/Electro-Rock act Direct Influence are returning to NZ to promote their debut album War In My Kitchen to front-man Dylan Smith’s home crowds. Developed from Dylan’s Maori heritage bringing Reggae and Soul to a combination of Marcus Ross’s Australian dirty rock/rap background, D.I. spawned a new flavour of music that is appealing to audiences far and wide.
Their debut album War In My Kitchen features prominent guests such as UK Emcee EQ on the lead single Final Word and Aboriginal artist Dan Sultan on the empowering second single For My People. With a range of talented collaborators and tunes spanning genres, the record has music fans of every background begging for more.
Touring the album as it hits stores nationwide from 14th May with their hot new band, Dylan and Marcus zig-zag New Zealand to bring their killer live show to every corner of the country. Make sure you catch them in Wellington at Sandwiches where the NZ leg is kicked off with support from Auckland’s Black Bird.
$15 entry, doors open from 10pm.
