What is there left to say about Dai Henwood? An honest, straight-forward, uncomplicated and hilarious individual. An individual, who has entertained, shocked and got New Zealand laughing with his unique style of self-depreciating comedy.

Dai puts it all on the line and lets it hang in the breeze, there’s no doubt his ability to get us laughing at ourselves has struck a chord with the New Zealand public.

With a new show for 2010 Dai analyses one of his favourite philosophies, ideals versus reality. What wins, what looses, does a win sometimes really mean a loss? Henwood certainly has a particular outlook on life. One that comes from observing it with a peculiar bent that Dai hasn’t revealed on stage until now. Friends of Dai will tell you he has a positive and honest appraisal of most scenarios, and 9 out of 10 times it has a pitch perfect punch line. This show is the summation of Dai’s theories on life.

By now we’re familiar with Dai’s progress over the last decade, from the early beginnings as a character comic during his years at Victoria University then the move to Auckland, winning The Billy T and Fred Awards Award, getting picked up by C4TV, and now a resident team leader on TV3’s top rating 7Days. When Dai recorded his first DVD in September 2009 he created history by becoming the first comic to record a DVD in New Zealand for a major label.

Along the way Dai has forged his way overseas with an invitation to the exclusive Montreal Just For Laughs Festival along with shows in Edinburgh, Tokyo and Melbourne. We are fortunate that Dai has his heart here in New Zealand and we have managed to keep him here.

Those who have seen Dai on stage will testify to his engaging energy and he has created a reputation as a comic who is consistently funny, there’s just something about him that sets him apart. It’s that indefinable quality that separates him and establishes him as one of the elite of New Zealand comedians. Spending an hour in his company will pretty much sort you out for your laugh fix for the foreseeable future. In Dai’s own words, get involved.
