Remember that old china plate you dug up in the garden when you were building your fence or that interesting painting your grandfather left you? Have you ever wondered what the stories behind these objects are or how much they might be worth? Well back by popular demand is the Museum of Wellington City & Sea’s Curiosity Roadshow on Saturday 1 May - Wellington’s very own version of the British Antiques Roadshow.
To coincide with the final month of the Museum’s 10th birthday exhibition 10 Years in Wonderland which showcases the more unusual objects from the Museum collection in a Mad Hatter Tea Party setting, Curiosity Roadshow provides a great opportunity for the public to bring along their very own curios and artifacts to have them appraised by experts. There is also a call from the Museum to encourage members of the public to donate any items that they feel may be of significance to Wellington’s history.
The expert appraisal event runs from 1 to 2pm however there are other events on the day that are well worth a visit. There is a classic and veteran vehicle display outside the Museum from 12 to 4pm featuring some stunning vintage cars and Big Yellow Caravan will be playing sunny tunes of the '30s and French gypsy jazz rhythm from 2.30pm.
Entry to the Curiosity Roadshow is entirely free.
