Eru George is chairperson of Te Pumautanga ō Te Arawa, a powerful body which represents around 24,000 people from eleven Te Arawa iwi and hapu.

Their vast area of interest covers over 500,000 hectares. Since October 2003 Te Pumautanga ō Te Arawa has negotiated with the Crown for settlement of more than 80 outstanding land claims: the resulting 2006 settlement includes significant cultural and commercial redress.

George explains he anga whakamau – the way forward.
