A collection of tiny stacks and rolls made from paintings, canvas, string, and plywood tablets.
Painting Dud Stacks are paintings presented in a different way - cut into regular shapes and piled on top of each other and pierced through with a nail. This manner of presenting paintings prevents a regular reading of the painting.
The stacks challenge our thinking about ‘what actually is a painting’? It is usually paint on a surface that has been pushed around by brushes or tools to create an image, or a perception, or a reality.
The stacks explore our assumptions about how these elements can be arranged.
