Curated by Hawke’s Bay sports journalist, Frank Long, Growing to Glory celebrates the region’s sporting history by telling the stories of some of its sportsmen and women.

From high-profile achievements in local sport to some lesser-known tales of world class success, this exhibition includes rare images from the collection of the Hawke’s Bay Cultural Trust/Ruawharo Ta-u-Rangi, and fascinating sporting memorabilia drawn from throughout Hawke’s Bay.

Using objects and photographs from both the HBCT and private collections, the exhibition showcases national and international achievements in Hawke’s Bay sport - from the rugby immortals George Nepia and Kel Tremain to the Olympic glory of the Evers-Swindell sisters.
