The Friendly Dental VLK (Very Low Key) Duathlons live up to their name.

These Duathlons are very friendly with the emphasis on "Very Low Key". You do not have to be fit, fast or look fantastic in lycra! All you need is a pair of comfortable running or walking shoes and a bike.

The run/walk and cycle course is flat and aimed to please the even the entry level athlete. This series is recommended for anyone aged 13 years and over.

Events are held in May, June, July and August each year. You can do the event as an individual or if that seems a bit much, get a friend and do it as a team. You could event get two friends and really have a fun and relaxed day out there. Team entries only pay per person so there are no hidden costs.

There are three distances in this event and you can choose the course and distance that best suits you.

• The Peak Fitness and Health Duathlon
This Duathlon is for the beginner to duathlons and also those just getting into fitness again. It is all flat - now that should put a smile on your face.
It starts with a 2km run or walk, then followed by a 11km (one loop) cycle and finished by another 2km run or walk. This can be done all by yourself or as a team.

Lots of fun and plenty of time to get the Arizona Star Bar for a hot or cold drink before the prize giving.

• The Kaweka Foods Duathlon
This duathlon has been designed for those beginners who want to step up the distance a little without too much discomfort. It is more of a challenge but the extra effort will be worth it for the satisfaction you will get at the finish line.

It starts with a 4.5km run or walk, then a 22km cycle, and here's the nice part, a 2km run or walk at the finish. Well done! You will deserve a reward at the end of this. Again this is ideal for individuals and teams.

• The Revolution Bikes Duathlon
OK so this is the biggy. But still very do-able if you have done the training. It starts with a 4.5km run/walk, then followed by a 22km cycle and then the big 4.5km run or walk finish. We advise a bit more training is required for this event to ensure you really enjoy the 4.5km at the end.

This is also perfect for teams because it gives all the team members a really good chance to shine!

Enter on the day. Registration is from 9am at the Arizona Star Bar at the Happy Tav.

You can enter as an individual or a team.
Entry fees are set as low as we can go to ensure that everyone can have a go!
HBMSC Members $15
Non Members $20
Teams are only $20 no matter if you are are a 2 or 3 person team.

The Prize giving will be held at the Arizona Sports Bar at the Happy Tav and we only give away spot prizes so everyone is in for a chance to win.

Each month there is an amazing major spot prize of 3 months membership to Peak Fitness and Health in Havelock North along with a full assessment to the value of $300. But remember you have to be at the prize giving to win this.

Come along and have some fun, you've got everything to gain and nothing to lose.
