The spell-check definition of psychedelic refers to '"weird. distorted, wildly colourful or otherwise resembling images or sounds experienced by somebody under the influence of a psychedelic drug." However, this 4 piece band hailing from Wellington have no drug specific demographic in mind when they are mid full-flight on stage.

Their aim - purely to take the audience on a sonic journey using their 60's influenced, spatially crafted songs and symbiotic improvisational skills to electrify the senses.

Little Bushman was formed originally as a trio in 2005. Warren Maxwell on keys, guitars & Vox (ex Fat Freddys Drop/TrinityRoots) teamed up with Tom Callwood on bass and Rick Cranson on drums. Joe Callwood (Tom's older brother) on lead guitars joined later in 2006 when it was realized that a virtuoso guitarist was required in order to be a real blues band. (Warren was more of a loose rhythm guitar accompanist).

So, the journey began and 4 years later the band played at almost every music festival in New Zealand. Including WOMAD 09, Rippon 08, Homegrown, SoundSplash 08, Parihaka Peace Festival, Whitianga Blues and Roots Fest as well as support tours with Dave Dobbyn, Don McGlashin, Donovan Frankenreiter and also Blue King Brown in Australia and have mesmerized audiences with their raw and wildly colourful concoction of psychedelic blues.
