A special fund raising event to benefit the Hollywood Cinema refurbishment project - ensuring the on-going survival of this unique home for Auckland's historic Wurlitzer pipe organ. Join us for an afternoon of laughter and entertainment!

Before the days of sound movies we had the “silents” and these motion pictures were brought to life, first by costly orchestras and then in the 1920s, by the MIGHTY Wurlitzer pipe organ. Hollywood Cinema “House Organist” Ron Clark, will bring the silent screen to life as he accompanies the classic Charlie Chaplin comedy “City Lights” with music and sound effects provided by the Wurlitzer pipe organ.

The end of a film reflects its time - ....unhappy endings are common today - Charlie Chaplin's film "City Lights" has a classical happy ending: the hero and the heroine are finally united.

Tickets on sale at the door on the day from 1.15pm.
