Religion, faith, and the existence of God are under the microscope daily, and have taken on new meaning and influence in the 21st century.

Adrian Wooldridge, Schumpeter columnist for The Economist, examined how and why religion is booming around the world and revealed its vast effects on the global economy, politics and culture in his book God is Back (co-authored with Economist editor John Micklethwait).

Michael Otterman’s book on the impact on the Iraqi people of the war, Erasing Iraq, and Antony Loewenstein’s analysis in My Israel Question of the ongoing conflict in Israel/Palestine can’t escape the elephant in the room.

The panelists discuss their divergent views on the global and regional rise of religion and its impact on every-day lives, particularly on the vulnerable residents in war-torn parts of the world. Chair: Sean Plunket.
