Charlie Higson has many strings to his bow. Not only is he the highly successful writer of the Young James Bond novels and a new horror series for young adults, The Enemy (with a sequel The Dead due out later this year), he is a comedian, screenwriter, actor and producer.
Charlie started writing comedy for TV in the UK in the late 1980s, creating the characters of Loadsamoney and Stavros with Harry Enfield for ‘Saturday Night Live’. His next project, with long-term writing partner Paul Whitehouse, was ‘Harry Enfield’s Television Programme’, and they both went on to create and star in ‘The Fast Show’ (1994-2000).
Charlie has worked on a number of other TV comedies, as performer, writer and producer, including ‘The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer’ and ‘Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased)’.
Charlie fields a torrent of questions from David Farrier before the floor is turned over to the audience for Q&A – ask him anything about decorating, singing, horror, writing for TV, comedy, acting, producing, film work. Just don’t ask him what he thinks of New Zealand because this is his first visit.
Under 16's free when accompanied by a ticket-holder.
Presented as a part of the Auckland Writers and Readers Festival.
