Combine your love of fishing with a great day out for the whole family. The Whangarei Heads School Funky Fishing and Diving Tournament is a great opportunity for fishing enthusiasts, both big and small, to head for the water and try their skills.

Fantastic sponsorship of this popular annual event means there are heaps of great prizes to reel in for Senior, Junior, Team and spear fishing categories. Major spot prizes of a Tropical Holiday in Vanuatu and a cool Inflatable Hotdog can be hooked by fishers and non-fishers alike with the purchase of Senior or Junior tickets.

The whole family can soak up the atmosphere with an afternoon of food, refreshments and entertainment by Taurikura’s beautiful beach.

The easiest way to catch some fresh fish without getting your feet wet is at the Fish Auction. This starts at 5pm and will be lead by the entertaining auctioneer Jim McLeod.

Fishing time: 6am-3.30pm, Weigh-In: 12pm-3.30pm, Prize Giving: 4pm, Fish Auction 5pm.
Proceeds will be donated to Whangarei Heads School and Community Library.
