A chance to hear the talented young students from the New Zealand School of Music performing vocal music from Italy.
There will be favourite songs and arias originating from Naples (Neopolitan song) as well as arias from the great Italian opera tradition. The Neopolitan song was first recognised officially in the 1830s when an annual song writing competition was started. This competition gave rise to some of the most well known Italian songs including 'O sole mio', 'Torna a Surriento', 'Funiculì, Funiculà' and 'Santa Lucia' - memorably performed by The Three Tenors, including the great Luciano Pavarotti.
Join us for a lunchtime concert filled with Italian song, operatic passion, and above all, 'amore'.
